Get ready and put your swords away for a minute, because the game’s new update brought a spectacular cultural event inspired by real legends straight from Poland! Let’s understand the context of this celebration so you don’t get lost when NPCs start dancing and the mechanics start rolling.
The Polish Solstice and Kupala Night#
To get the event’s vibe, we need to travel to the real world. In Poland and other Slavic countries, the summer solstice is celebrated with a traditional festival called Kupala Night (or Noc Kupały).
Historically, this was the shortest night of the year, where people celebrated the sun, love, fertility, and purification. The scene included:
- Large bonfires to drive away evil spirits;
- Folkloric dances around the fire;
- Flower wreaths with candles lit and floated on rivers by young women to predict future love.
In the game, this mystical and festive atmosphere sets the tone for the celebrations. It’s time to see villages decorated, interact with ancient rituals and, of course, earn exclusive event rewards that only appear during this time of year!
The Fearsome Wawel Dragon: New Kakele Monsters#
But since we are talking about Kakele Online, a serious 2D MMORPG, a warrior cannot live by flowers and dances alone. Polish folklore also brings one of the most iconic monsters of all time: the Wawel Dragon!
Legend says that this terrible dragon lived in a cave beneath the Wawel Hill in Kraków and terrorized the local people by demanding offerings. No knight could defeat it until a clever young shoemaker had a brilliant idea: he stuffed a lamb skin with sulfur. The dragon ate the trap, felt infernal burning, drank so much river water that it exploded!
In Kakele’s new event, this legend comes to life in pixel art in a very dynamic way. Instead of facing the big beast head-on, the threat spread: Wawel Dragon hatchlings are invading cities and causing absolute chaos wherever they go! This is your chance to be a hero, put on your armor, go into battle, and defeat these scaly little creatures.
Lotus Petals and the 7-Day Challenge#
The event merges these two traditions into an amazing community mechanic that will require the coordinated effort of the entire server. It works like this: to celebrate the solstice and keep danger under control, a giant wreath must be built by the communities.
The big collective goal? The server needs to keep the wreath’s candle lit for 7 consecutive days!
But don’t think it will be easy. If the flame stays out for more than 2 hours, the cost to relight it becomes higher: you will need to collect and pay many more lotus petals to light it again.
Quick tip: keep your pickaxe sharp and equipped! The event continues via a secret access in Kakelium — a much more powerful dragon awaits you there, but it only appears during the event!
If the community cooperates properly and the candle remains strong after 7 days, a mysterious exclusive access will finally be unlocked on the map!
