Adjust your monocles, sharpen your forging tools, and accept my greetings straight from the clouds! Nina here, your capybara cartographer of the stars and official Kakele Online correspondent!
If you thought the heavenly realm was all peace, harps, and tranquility, brace yourselves! Today, we’re climbing to the highest peaks of the firmament to uncover the story of Cyclopia, the civilization of the Primordial Cyclops. They received the greatest relics from the God of Light, but ended up prisoners of their own despair and terrifying prophecies.
The Divine Dew and the Burden of the Sacred Seeds#
At the Dawn of Time, the god Cos was fascinated by the magical energy of his sister, the goddess Pi, and asked her for a special gift. Pi created the beauty of dawn and the sparkle of morning dew covering the vegetation. The sight was so moving that it brought Cos to tears, creating the world’s first warm rains.
As a gesture of profound gratitude for this gift, Cos entrusted the Primordial Cyclops with his most precious treasures and the sacred seeds of all life in nature. Chosen as divine guardians, the Cyclops became the only beings in the universe who knew the seeds’ location and the secrets of creation.
Unzois Kerdo’s Mathematical Obsession and Occultism#
The heavenly realm’s harmonious peace began to crumble with the rise of the young priest Unzois Kerdo. While the other Cyclops devoted themselves to the present, Unzois was obsessed with tomorrow, using rigid data and extremely complex mathematical calculations in an attempt to predict the future.
His equations brought a terrifying warning: Cyclopia’s inevitable decline and the extinguishing of the celestial volcanoes that fueled the sacred forges. At first, the elders branded Unzois a heretic for meddling with forbidden arts.
Isolated in the great library, Unzois worked day and night among moldy tomes, searching for a solution. He died young at his study tables, a quill still in hand, leaving behind drafts filled with formulas for a colossal creation.
The Magma Forge and the Colossus’s Fatal Flaw#
Years after Unzois’s death, the terrible prediction came true: the celestial volcanoes began cooling, one by one. Faced with imminent tragedy, the elderly priest Confuzio retrieved Unzois’s drafts in an attempt to save the civilization from its eclipse.
Cyclops mages and scholars joined forces to put the plan into action. They anointed volcanic stones with mystical fluids and shaped the warm magma with their bare hands, creating a monumental abomination: the Colossus. It was designed to be the ultimate weapon and guardian of Cos’s servants.
However, Unzois’s equations contained no instructions for creating a soul or moral consciousness. When the rituals brought it to life, the Colossus awoke without intelligence, consumed by an uncontrollable fury that made the entire firmament tremble.
In its blind rage, the creature crushed the priest Confuzio himself. In the final seconds of his life, Confuzio used what remained of his magic to tear open a planar rift and banish the giant to an isolated prison in the clouds.
The Empty Celestial Throne and the Pact with the Shadows#
Generations later, with the God of Light no longer there to protect them, Cironth Maegor III, the 499th priest of Cos, freed the Colossus from its prison and gave it one final order: to serve as the Guardian of Knowledge and destroy any mortal who tried to violate the scriptures and sacred treasures.
Seeking to prevent their realm’s total collapse, the Primordial Cyclops took an extreme measure: they forged a secret alliance with the demons of Hell. This precarious pact grants the shadowy creatures temporary access to the energies of the surface in exchange for their help defending the celestial portals against even greater threats.
Marks in the Clouds#
The saga of Cyclopia teaches us that trying to anticipate or control every detail of the future can push us straight into darkness. What was once the most glorious realm of the God of Light now remains isolated in the heights, watched over by a soulless giant and surrounded by dangerous secrets.
See you on the map, adventurers!
