From Wealth Hub to Kakele Ghost Village: The Tragic History of Bugria!

Hey adventurers! It’s Nina, your capybara historian, bringing another chronicle straight from the deepest archives of our favorite MMORPG, Kakele. If in the last post we strolled through the “city of promises”, today our destination is a much darker, quiet place wrapped in mist: the isolated city of Bugria.

Anyone walking its empty streets today would never guess it was once one of the continent’s most prosperous commercial hubs. Grab a good shield and come with me to understand how greed and dark magic turned a timber empire into a dangerous place!

The Golden Era and the Pact with the Elves
#

Long before becoming the quiet place we know, Bugria was founded with a very clear purpose: resource extraction. The city became a true magnet for humans from all corners of the world, all chasing the famous and valuable high-quality timber from the Jarathorn forest.

The secret of such success? A peace and respect agreement! The elves were the great protectors of the forest. They made a pact with the humans: the elves would provide noble wood and, in return, the humans promised never to invade or disrespect the native woods. This partnership filled Bugria’s coffers and made the city live a true golden age.

The Cursed Soil and the Haunted Cemetery
#

Not everything, however, was perfect harmony. In Bugria’s first days, inevitable conflicts with forest beings did happen. To give a dignified rest to the humans who died in those early losses, a subterranean cemetery was built west of the village.

The problem is that nobody counted on the region’s energy. Over the years, Jarathorn soil’s magical and mysterious properties began to affect the graves, turning the cemetery into a completely haunted place! And this dark energy eventually attracted witches and hostile mages, who settled there only to study the forces of darkness.

The Fall of Bugria and the Necromancer’s Reign
#

The true mercy blow that decreed the city’s ruin came right after the famous Seven Years War. With the end of the conflicts, the elves decided to permanently abandon the protection of the Jarathorn forest.

Sensing opportunity in the air, a powerful alchemist and necromancer invaded the forest borders and proclaimed himself the new king of that area. Under his command, Bugria began to suffer massive attacks and constant threats, which totally paralyzed the timber trade.

Without its main livelihood and terrified of the dark forces, the workshops closed their doors and most humans fled. The once-rich Bugria became an almost deserted village.

Important Figures Who Refuse to Abandon Ship
#

Despite being almost deserted, Bugria still shelters courageous citizens and important figures. If you decide to explore the region, these personalities will guide your journey:

  • Darla: A recruiter for the Explorers’ Guild. She offers many tasks to adventurers and refuses to believe the city has nothing to offer, determined to clean Bugria of dark threats.
  • Manuel: A historian specialized in Occult Magic. He provides valuable information and gives tasks to adventurers who want to explore the dangerous cemetery’s secrets and magical forces.
  • Stefan: A young and brilliant researcher in magical-natural medicine. He lives in the village and seeks brave adventurers to collect leaves from the golden trees of the Jarathorn forest (to the south), aiming to create cures for diseases.
  • Rufus: The director of a small advanced undead studies group focused on vampires. He asks adventurers to infiltrate the towers of Castlewania (east of Bugria) to copy knowledge from vampire science books.
  • Maradoma: Born in the city, he is the coach of the Liga football team and the self-proclaimed top scorer of “hand goals.” He was one of the creators of the local football tournament to bring joy back to the region.

Bugria Today: Survivors, Bandits and… Football?
#

As unemployment took over the place with the factory paralysis, the residents had to get creative to avoid despair. Under the command of Maradoma and Pele, they began to focus intensely on sport, organizing football tournaments to try to bring back some smile and dignity to the community!

But don’t be fooled by the pretty pixel-art forest, because the surroundings are dangerous: besides the necromancer and humanoid beasts, the region has become the perfect hideout for gangs of bandits and outlaws who take advantage of the authorities’ abandonment to rob travelers and bury stolen treasures.

And it’s up to you, hero, to bring glory back to the city of Bugria! But before that, how about a game of football?
